TRAMUNTANA 360

TRAMUNTANA 360
The Serra de Tramuntana, stretching along Mallorca’s northwest coast, is a UNESCO World Heritage-listed cultural landscape where nature and human ingenuity have coexisted for millennia. Its iconic dry-stone terraces, ancient irrigation systems, and layered cultural history—shaped by Talayots, Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Catalans, and modern-day tourists—bear witness to ongoing transformation.
As traditional practices fade, terraces collapse, water channels deteriorate, and erosion accelerates. Yet, the Tramuntana stands as a reminder that harmony depends on a sustained, respectful relationship between people and this living landscape.
Trevor Lloyd Morgan, artist and photographer fell in love with this landscape and made it a central focus of his artistic practise. He created a concept in which he divided the Tramuntana mountains into six cultivation zones—Ice, Oak, Olive, Orchard, Grape, and Fish. In each, we witness not only the challenges faced by local communities but also the seeds of possible solutions, rooted in resilience, tradition, and innovation.
